Message from the CFAN Chair
Hello, and welcome to the Canadian Family Advisory Network’s home on the Internet.
I was elected the Chair of CFAN in October 2008, and since then I’ve had the privilege of working closely with Frank Gavin, our past chair, and our CFAN Steering Committee members to further the work of our organization.
I am a parent representative on the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital’s Parent Advisory Council in Edmonton, Alberta. I’m also the mom to three children, and my youngest child has a disability, which provides me with the opportunity to be involved in the health system as a family member, too.
One of CFAN’s mandates is to provide support for local family advisory groups who advise hospitals, health regions, rehab centres, and hospices across Canada.
Many of these groups are a mixture of volunteer family representatives and staff members who work together to model and promote the kind of partnership that lies at the heart of family-centred care.
CFAN wants to share both the challenges and successes of our groups, which is why we are revamping our website to include a ‘members only’ section. Here we will be able to bounce ideas off each other and share information.
In the meantime, we welcome your feedback - please be in touch and check back on this website often for updated news and information…
