CAPHC is pleased to partner with Huggies diapers to support their "No Baby Unhugged Initiative"!

No Baby Unhugged is a Huggies initiative to help all parents understand and embrace the power of hugging.  And, to help all babies get the hugs they need, even when parents can't be there to give them, by funding and facilitating cuddling programmes in Canadian hospitals.

CAPHC has supported the No Baby Unhugged program by:

  • commissioning a white paper on the importance of human touch for babies, to help understand the science behind touch,
  • bringing together experts from across the CAPHC network to develop guidelines to help other hospitals establish volunteer infant cuddling programs,
  • facilitated a national survey to understand the current landscape and prevalence of baby cuddling programs in Canada,
  • connecting Huggies representatives with CAPHC members to understand the current state of baby cuddling programs at various hospitals and to understand the specific role of baby cuddlers

Click here to read the white paper, "The Power of Human Touch for Babies", prepared for CAPHC by our colleagues at the IWK Health Center.  Contributors to the paper were:

  • Britney Benoit,
  • Katelynn Boerner,
  • Marsha Campbell-Yeo, PhD,
  • Christine Chambers, PhD
  • Centre for Pediatric Pain Research, IWK Health Centre, Halifax, NS

Recognizing the evidence in support of the health and developmental benefits of touch, CAPHC is continuing to work with Huggies to ensure more babies get the hugs they need.  CAPHC and Huggies will be support the development of baby cuddling programs in a number of our member hospitals
